General Information
Taking charge as the producer and primary beatmaker on this project, Madman the Greatest delivers a catalogue of recordings from fresh, talented and inspiring artists that have entered through the doors of his sound laboratory, GR8-1 Music Lab. Mixing between the sounds of Alternative Hip Hop and R&B, he introduces the world to the associates that helped shaped the sound he is known for.
With Madman the Greatest, Mr FX and Ruff MP are also the founding member of the Playaz Cliq Group. Though there is yet to be the official soundtrack, they both appear respectively as the main focus of this collection bringing a un-waivered balance to Madman the Greatest’s evolving sound. Whilst Mr FX is consciously a lyrical giant of abstract and easy listening tone, Ruff MP provides the old school element that is often over looked in today’s music. Other guests include Foxina Belluci; DJ Zimm Zimmah; Cecil Foster; & Victa Von Duche who all at one point personally individually work with the beatmaker as separate projects.
The project primarily floats from the genre of Urban & Rhythmic Contemporary, taking influence from Dancehall; Latin, Pop & Rap Music as the basis of its overall sound. Where songs like ‘C to the L I Q & Got Me Watching head for that Caribbean sounds over dancehall; Love you back brings an 808 kick driven love song from the smooth vocals of Foxina Belucci whilst Mess with Us from Ruff MP gets busy with a straight Boom bap rap record. Each recording delivers its own definitive place throughout 17 tracks of that Madman the Greatest infectious sound.
Madman the Greatest has ensured to include three of his own recordings to the mix especially recorded for this album. Got me watching; Someone special (Part II) and Getting serious now all support the collaborations that define the official collection from Playaz Cliq. Boom Bap Rap; Club R&B; Urban Love songs and just a general good vibe provides the formal introduction to the artists that support the label.
